Governor Newsom please help animals!

🚨 URGENT: California Advocates — Ask Governor Newsom to HELP shelter animals NOW 🚨

In 2022 $50 MILLION was allocated to the UC Davis Koret Shelter Medicine Program. But instead of funding lifesaving solutions, Koret's policies pushed many municipal shelters to implement policies that violated law. The pushed “reduced intake” programs that turned away UNSTERILIZED and UNVACCINATED animals at their doors. This fueled a devastating statewide overpopulation crisis, skyrocketing euthanasia, overcrowded shelters, and starving and suffering animals left to breed and fend for themselves in our communities.

We believe Miranda's Rescue is an example of local juridticions ignoring animal protection laws. 

We are imploring Governor Newsom to act immediately:

✅ Issue an Executive Order directing municipal shelters to STOP violating the law and to comply with California’s animal-protection requirements.

✅ Audit how the $50 MILLION were spent and provide a full accounting.

✅ Redirect funding to what saves lives: high-volume SPAY/NEUTER + veterinary care + rescue access + transparency + oversight + enforcement of animal-protection laws.
