<p>Ask your members of Congress to renew and extend funding for the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) so low-income households stay connected. Nearly 23 million households rely on the ACP to pay for home internet or cell phones. If Congress doesn’t act, families, students, people with disabilities, older Americans and other ACP recipients could lose connectivity that’s essential to learn, work, and participate in the digital economy.</p>


I am writing to express my strong support for the bicameral, bipartisan Affordable Connectivity Program Extension Act.

Thanks to the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), 22.5 million households save $30-75 a month on their internet service. The ACP has reduced barriers to economic mobility that can be exacerbated by limited access to technology.

However, enrollment for the ACP ended on Feb. 7, and participants may stop receiving subsidies as soon as May.

Those enrolled will be at risk of losing their broadband service, and thus their access to online education, telehealth, vital government resources and job opportunities.

No one wants to see people hit with an unforeseen bill they were promised relief from just a few months ago. Your support for ongoing ACP funding will play a critical role in preventing an unprecedented revocation of broadband services.

Additionally, the success of the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program and the Digital Equity Act (DEA), a combined $45.2 billion investment, is highly contingent on the ACP. Beyond access to infrastructure, affordability is key for internet adoption. A lack of ACP funding could severely limit the effectiveness of this monumental investment in closing the digital divide.
