Ohio Real Estate Investors Association

Stop the Senate from restricting Investing

Today it's "Institutional Investors"; Tomorrow it's YOU

S.2224 from Sherrod Brown is the wrong path forward

Sherrod Brown from Ohio is leading the charge against Institutional Investors and what he calls predatory investing. S.2224 looks to remove tax deduction advantages for any investor that owns over 50 1-4 family properties in a single county.
For some smaller investors, 50 properties seems like a far away dream, but for many investors that have been working in this field for 20-30 years, it is not unlikely that they would fall into this "institutional" category.
Regardless if you are personally affected or not, it is important to show Senator Brown and others that interfering with the housing market, picking winners and losers, restricting investment, is bad for the overall health of our communities and will lead to a number of unintended consequences.

To help make home ownership easier and more affordable legislators should concentrate their energy towards removing barriers to production such as singe-family zoning and density restrictions. Increasing the overall number of houses available for rent and sale will help ease a number of issues we are currently experiencing.

Please send this message to your Senator and ask them to vote NO to S.2224.
