Support Gynecologic Cancer Research and Care as Congress Finalizes FY 2026 Funding

Take Action on FY 2026 Appropriations — Your Advocacy Still Needed

As a constituent and member of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology (SGO), I am writing to ask you to support final Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 appropriations that provide full and robust funding for gynecologic cancer research and care programs. 

The SGO is the premier medical specialty society for health care professionals trained in the comprehensive management of gynecologic cancers, such as cervical, ovarian, endometrial/uterine, vaginal, and vulvar cancers with the first three being the most common. The SGO’s 3,000 members, who include physicians, nurses, and other advanced practice providers, represent the entire oncology team dedicated to the treatment and care of patients with gynecologic cancer.

Please support the following health programs within the Labor-HHS Subcommittee bill to ensure the prevention and treatment of all gynecologic cancer, and improve the health outcomes for all women: 
•	Appropriate at least the Senate Appropriations Committee-approved total funding level of $48.7 billion for the National Institutes of Health (NIH), which includes funding from the 21st Century Cures Act and the Public Health Service (PHS) Evaluation Act and for the Advanced Research Project’s Agency for Health (ARPA-H). Additionally, we ask Congress to include the Senate-proposed $7.374 billion for the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and to adopt the positive provisions in the Senate report related to the restructuring of NIH and prohibiting NIH from using multi-year funding if it would result in fewer grants being funded in FY 2026 than in FY 2024. 
•	Provide the House-approved $15.5 million for the Ovarian Cancer Control Initiative and $12 million for Johanna's Law within the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion. Additionally, as the administration contemplates a reorganization of HHS, SGO urges Congress to protect the functions of these vital programs regardless of which agency houses them.
