NAMI-NYC is asking members of the New York City delegation in the State Legislature to invest in the mental health of their constituents. We are requesting $25,000 in discretionary funding from New York City-based Assembly Members and State Senators to support NAMI-NYC’s free, community-based programs and services. The letter you send will go directly to them, urging them to support this request. This funding will directly support peer-led and family programs in their district, including initiatives like Ending the Silence presentations in local schools, helping young people and families access mental health education and support when they need it most.&nbsp;

As a mental health advocate with the National Alliance on Mental Illness of New York City (NAMI-NYC), I am writing you to request $25,000 in discretionary funding on behalf of NAMI-NYC. This funding would allow NAMI-NYC to bring more free peer-led programming, education classes, support programs and presentations to your district, supporting families, peers, and youth.

These programs include evidence-based education classes and over 30 support groups, as well as outreach in the community through our Ending the Silence mental health education programming in middle and high schools. NAMI-NYC seeks to increase mental health education and access through our programs for all ages.
