Make Your Voice Heard in Support of PACK Act (H.R. 6832)

I am writing to urge you to cosponsor and support H.R. 6832, the Packaging and Claims Knowledge Act of 2025.

Consumers should be able to trust claims that packaging is recyclable, compostable, or reusable. Businesses also need clear and consistent requirements when products are sold across state lines. Today, differing state standards are creating confusion and forcing companies to manage separate labeling, packaging, inventory, and compliance requirements for the same products.

The PACK Act would establish a consistent federal framework under the Federal Trade Commission for recyclable, compostable, and reusable claims on consumer packaging. These claims would need to be accurate, supported by independent third-party certification, and subject to federal consumer-protection enforcement.

A national framework would:

* Give consumers clearer, more reliable information.
* Reduce misleading packaging claims.
* Provide greater certainty for businesses operating nationwide.
* Limit duplicative compliance costs that can add pressure to consumer prices.

The PACK Act is focused specifically on voluntary packaging claims. It would not require companies to make these claims, but it would establish clear standards when they choose to do so.
