Support Additional end-of-year Elder Justice Funding

As a supporter of Adult Protective Services (APS) and other elder abuse prevention programs, I urge you to join with Representative Richard Neal to maintain pandemic-level funding for both APS and LTCOP in an end of year funding bill. This would provide up to $188 million for APS programs. Funding passed in the bipartisan Consolidated Appropriations Act in 2020 and the American Rescue Plan Act in 2021 provided APS programs with $188 million in both FY 2021 and FY 2022. These funds allowed APS programs to bolster capacity, staffing, and services as the number and complexity of reports increases. In 2021 alone, over 1.34 million reports of elder abuse were made nationally to APS programs. It is essential to our national effort to combat abuse, neglect, and exploitation of older adults and people with disabilities to provide adequate funding for APS programs. Providing more funding to these programs would allow us to combat the sinister force of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of older adults and people with disabilities in America.
