HB 399 is bad for Florida communities. Even in its final form, this bill gives large resort developers a free pass to bypass local zoning review — and continues Tallahassee's pattern of taking land use decisions out of the hands of local governments and the people they represent.

While the Senate removed some of the most harmful parts, the bill still contains a dangerous provision allowing large destination resorts to bypass local zoning review — stripping communities of their voice over major development decisions near their homes.
