Problem: Rhode Island patients are in danger of losing access to copay assistance programs
Help us protect programs that help you cover their medical costs.
Let's take action today
As the Rhode Island General Assembly enters the final weeks of session, we can’t let
time run out on a bill that would keep money in your pocket and keep insurance
companies from getting paid twice.
When passed into law H8041/S2720 will help patients afford their medications by
ensuring third party co-pay assistance gets counted by the insurer towards a patient’s
deductible and maximum out-of-pocket costs. More and more insurers are
implementing something called “co-pay accumulator programs” in which they take the
co-pay assistance but count it towards their own bottom line, instead of the patient’s out
of pocket costs.
H8041/S2720 was passed by the state Senate but is awaiting action in the House. We
need you to reach out to Speaker of the House K. Joseph Shekarchi and ask for the
passage of H8041/S2720.
Thank you for your help!
