When it’s hard to keep nutritious food on the table, local resources—like food banks, pantries, meal programs and more—in addition to federal food assistance programs like The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)—bridge the gap and help people regain stability in their lives. Tell Senators: Help families regain stability by strengthening food assistance programs in the next farm bill. 

You can be a major part in the effort to end hunger for good by strengthening food assistance programs like The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in the next farm bill.  
 
As food prices have remained high over the last several years, food assistance programs make a difference for families trying to regain stability. Programs such as TEFAP, which supplies food from U.S. farms and producers to families facing hunger, and SNAP, which provides benefits for families to purchase groceries, help households bridge gaps when they experience hard times. 

As your constituent, I am asking you to include the following provisions in the next farm bill: 

Increase funding for TEFAP food purchases by $500 million per year, adjusted to inflation, to meet the rising demand for food assistance. 

Delay the SNAP cost shift for all states by two years. This delay will give states the time needed to stabilize operations, improve payment accuracy, avoid state tax increases or deep budget cuts, and protect benefit assistance for eligible families, helping them keep nutritious food on their tables.
