Tell Your Legislator: Support #FreetheData to Make PA's Workforce the Strongest in the Nation
Old data is holding Pennsylvania's workforce development system back.
Local Workforce Development Boards and workforce partners often receive data that is up to 24 months old, making it nearly impossible to develop programs and interventions that meet the needs of workers, job seekers, and employers.
A bill, #FreetheData, is now before the Legislature to provide workforce leaders with better, more timely data, and we need your help.
#FreetheData has two key parts -
- Require the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry to share existing unemployment claims, unemployment wages, and new hire database information with Pennsylvania's local workforce development boards and other stakeholders for program design, accountability, and evaluation.
- Develop a secure, accessible, and user-friendly dashboard platform that provides streamlined access to data, enabling our workforce boards to create effective, relevant programs that support workers, job seekers, and employers.
