Colorado Boulevard is one of Denver’s busiest and most dangerous corridors, and it’s ready for a transformation. The planned Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project could bring fast, reliable buses in their own dedicated lane, making transit more dependable and helping make the street safer for everyone. But the project is at risk of being watered down. We’re calling on Shoshana Lew, the Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Transportation, to deliver full, high-quality BRT with dedicated bus lanes all the way along Colorado Blvd.

Share your support for a bus-only lane ALL the way down Colorado Blvd in Bus Rapid Transit project

Colorado Boulevard is one of Denver’s most dangerous and congested corridors. The planned Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project is a major opportunity to make transit more reliable, reduce congestion, and improve safety for everyone. 

The project will only succeed in meeting these goals if the bus moves in its own lane for the entire length of the corridor, and if that lane is created by converting a general traffic lane, rather than widening the road.

When buses are stuck in traffic, they become less reliable, and fewer people choose to take transit instead of driving. Dedicated bus lanes, where buses move in their own lane separate from traffic, are what make BRT work.

We are asking CDOT to build bus-only lanes along the full BRT corridor that are converted general purpose lanes, not widening the road.

People who live, work, play, and move through Colorado Boulevard deserve for it to be a safe place to be and an easy street to move along. 

CDOT has a chance to deliver a transformative project for this important corridor. We urge you to build full Bus Rapid Transit with dedicated lanes along the full length of the corridor.
