Support the STAMP Out Invasive Species Act

The North American Invasive Species Management Association (NAISMA) is a network of professionals and partner organizations that implement and support management programs to prevent the detrimental impacts of invasive species to North America’s lands and waters. Invasive species create an estimated $137 billion annual strain on the US economy, have contributed to the need to list more than 42 percent of the organisms currently listed under the Endangered Species Act, and as we have seen with COVID-19, can pose serious threats to human health. 

The STAMP Out Invasive Species Act (H.R. 210) directs the U.S. Postal Service to issue and sell a “Combating Invasive Species Semipostal Stamp”. The proceeds from the sale of the stamp will be divided equally among the Department of the Interior and the Department of Agriculture for invasive species related work. The stamp must be issued within one year of passing the bill and must be made available to the public for two years. 

As your constituent, I ask that you please co-sponsor and work to advance this bill which will provide critical funding to the Departments of Interior and Agriculture to prevent and manage harmful invasive species.
