America is fortunate to have abundant fish, wildlife and natural resources that are important to our heritage, communities, and overall health. Invasive species are a major threat to those native species and habitats we value. Invasive species have contributed to the need to list more than 42 percent of the organisms currently listed under the Endangered Species Act. In addition to threatening our natural resources and health, invasive species threaten our economy. Invasive species create an estimated $137 billion annual strain on the US economy. They impair agriculture and disrupt water storage, supply, and delivery systems for homes, farms, energy, and industry. 

The Recovering America's Wildlife Act (S.1149) was introduced by Senators Heinrich and Tillis. I respectfully ask you to please consider cosponsoring this transformational bill and pass it as soon as possible. Our wildlife simply can't wait any longer. 

Among other provisions, RAWA will provide $97.5 million annually to fund proactive wildlife conservation efforts on tribal lands and $1.3 billion in dedicated funding annually for the implementation of state fish and wildlife agencies’ wildlife action plans. There is a critical need to prevent, control, and manage invasive species to protect native and imperiled species, in addition to safeguarding our water supplies and lands. This will enable our fish and wildlife agencies to address more than 12,000 species in need of conservation before a listing as endangered or threatened under the Endangered Species Act is required. It will also put Americans back to work across the country.

As your constituent, I ask that you please work to pass the Recovering America's Wildlife Act in the 118th Congress so that future generations may enjoy the same abundant fish and wildlife, and outdoor recreation opportunities that we have.
