National Alliance to End Homelessness (NAEH) Capitol Hill Day 2026

The National Alliance to End Homelessness (NAEH) is holding its 2026 Capitol Hill Day this week, specifically on July 9th, in Washington, D.C. Housing advocates from across the nation are meeting with their Congressional representatives to educate them on policy needs and encourage them to protect funding for programs that work to eliminate homelessness. VHA is facilitating the Hill Day for attendees from Virginia - and we need your support!

For those that cannot advocate in person with us, we invite you to join us over email. Reinforce NAEH’s messaging by contacting your congressional representatives this week and request they support the following budget priorities to help end homelessness through evidenced-back solutions:

• $5.1 billion for the Homeless Assistance Grants programs and provisions to ensure local homelessness funding is protected;
• $45.6 billion for HUD’s tenant-based rental assistance programs to cover the cost of renewing current assistance and add new incremental vouchers to meet the growing demand; and
• $1.85 billion to expand housing opportunities for older adults at risk of and who are experiencing homelessness through targeted investments in the Section 202 program.
