Urge Congress to Reauthorize WIOA
With your help, we can strengthen the federal workforce development system
At Jobs for the Future, one of our top advocacy priorities in 2026 is for Congress to reauthorize the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), the federal law governing the public workforce development system. WIOA is overdue for reauthorization, and bipartisan action by Congress this election year would demonstrate a strong federal commitment to the economic futures of American workers and employers.
JFF’s WIOA policy recommendations are driven by the principle of “No Dead Ends.” As Americans of all ages navigate the uncertainties and emerging new opportunities of a fast-evolving labor market, they should be able to count on education and workforce systems that are nimble, dynamic, and responsive to addressing their training, retraining, and re-employment needs throughout their lifetimes. These systems should ensure that everyone has access to robust career navigation support, choice-filled career pathways, skills-based learning experiences, industry-driven partnerships, and wraparound supports that are available whenever people need them. JFF details our federal workforce development policy recommendation in this report: https://www.jff.org/idea/recommendations-for-a-fully-funded-and-transformed-workforce-development-system/.
We’re calling on our partners throughout the learn and work ecosystem—employers, education and workforce development providers, civic and community leaders, and investors and entrepreneurs—to join us in encouraging Congress to reauthorize WIOA. You can use the form at right to send a message to your members of Congress.
