A Win for Older Americans: Thank You, Senate, for Passing the OAA Reauthorization

As your constituent, I want to thank you for your leadership in supporting the bipartisan Older Americans Act Reauthorization Act (S. 2120) and for helping secure its passage in the Senate. The bill passed unanimously on July 14, demonstrating a shared commitment to improving the lives of older adults and family caregivers across the country. 

For more than six decades, the Older Americans Act has helped older adults remain healthy, independent, and connected to their communities through services such as nutrition programs, transportation, caregiver support, health promotion, and other community-based programs. These services are essential not only for meeting basic needs, but also for reducing social isolation and loneliness—two significant public health challenges that affect the health and well-being of millions of older Americans. 

As the bill moves forward, I hope you will continue to champion its enactment and work with your colleagues to ensure the Older Americans Act is reauthorized as quickly as possible.
