As a concerned resident and active member of our community, I am writing to urge your full support for the MAIN STREET DEAL.

Our neighborhood storefronts are the backbone of our local economy and the heart of our city. However, small business owners are currently facing unsustainable pressures from retail theft, unpredictable leases, punitive enforcement, and rising costs. Without practical, legislative support, we risk losing the independent shops that keep our blocks vibrant, safe, and unique.

The Main Street Deal offers a common-sense, five-point blueprint to ensure our small businesses can survive and thrive. I strongly urge you to champion its core pillars:

1. Safe Storefronts: Implement real plans to address repeat offenders and visible safety on retail corridors.
2. Fair Leases & Less Vacancy: Require predictable renewal notices and basic disclosures so businesses aren't blindsided and forced out.
3. Fair Enforcement: Prioritize "warning and cure" periods for first-time, non-hazardous issues rather than relying on punitive fine traps.
4. Affordable Taxes & Fees: Ensure no new mandates are passed without financial offsets or phase-ins for small storefronts.
5. Economic Accountability: Require independent impact analyses before new regulatory burdens are placed on employers.
