Ask Congress: Sponsor the 2026 Elder Justice Reauthorization and Modernization Act

As your constituent and as an elder justice advocate actively fighting elder abuse, neglect and exploitation, I am asking you to co-sponsor the Elder Justice Reauthorization and Modernization Act of 2026 (HR 8060).

This bill reauthorizes the Elder Justice Act and dedicates new funding to programs proven to safeguard older adults and adults with disabilities. This legislation builds on the continued bipartisan direct funding for Adult Protective Services (APS) in states, counties, and tribes as well as funding for state Long-Term Care Ombudsman program grants and training. It will also build opportunities to strengthen the long-term care workforce in states and tribes, medical-legal needs and legal hotlines, and respond to social isolation.

Every day 12,000 Americans turn 65 and research estimates that 1 in 10 of them will experience abuse, neglect, and/or exploitation. Addressing and preventing elder abuse is essential in our communities. Please support this important legislation.
