Increasing the Income & Asset Limits for Medical Assistance (MA)

People with brain injury and other disabilities should not be expected to live in such deep poverty just to get the healthcare and community supports they need to live an independent life. Minnesota needs to update the limits on income & assets held by individuals who qualify for Medical Assistance (MA) so that it can better reflect our current post-COVID economy and rates of inflation. Let your Minnesota State Representatives know that you care about this issue now!

Tell Your Medical Assistance (Medicaid) Story

Hear about how Rebecca and Rik both struggled to afford living independently while living at poverty levels on MA / Medicaid, by watching the Youtube video above (or at this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iv614KxpXoo).

Reflect upon your own experience(s) interacting with MA / Medicaid and how that has impacted access to disability services.

Then, use the form on this page to write to your State Representatives (MN State House and MN State Senate). Share how your life has been impacted (positively and/or negatively) by Minnesota's MA / Medicaid programs after a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and/or stroke, and why we need to increase the income and asset levels for MA.

Not sure how to write up your story to share with your legislator? Reach out to Maeve via email at Maeve@BrainInjuryMN.org to set up a time to work on writing down your story together!
