America's dairy industry requires innovation and investment for stability and continued strength - and the Dairy Business Innovation Initiatives (DBII) have delivered just that. DBII offers direct-to-business grants and industry research and education via four centers, including the Dairy Business Innovation Alliance run by WCMA and the Center for Dairy Research. Since DBII was launched in the 2018 Farm Bill, championed by U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-Wisconsin), it has directed $165 million in federal funding to support farmers and processors.&nbsp;
Now, as the already-overdue 2023 Farm Bill is debated, we need you to advocate for continued DBII funding. With just a few clicks, you can message your elected officials, letting them know you want to see them support dairy businesses.&nbsp;

Farm Bill Aid Essential to Industry Stability and Growth

International marketplace volatility, a severe labor shortage, rising operations and ingredients costs, and supply chain disruptions continue to challenge U.S. dairy farmers and dairy processors, and the long-term stability of the $753 billion U.S. dairy industry.

Innovation is the answer to these challenges.

For businesses large and small, farm and plant modernization, new product development and revenue stream diversification, and outreach into emerging global markets is essential to future success. The critical barrier to these essential innovations is capital, an issue directly addressed by Dairy Business Innovation Initiatives, funded via the U.S. Department of Agriculture - Agricultural Marketing Service (USDA-AMS). Initiatives (DBI) support innovation through technical assistance, market analysis, research and development, education, and targeted, small-dollar direct-to-business grants to dairy farmers and processors.

With every new dairy business established, value-added dairy product created, or export endeavor launched, DBI programming is strengthening the U.S. food supply chain and rural economies - and our nation, as a whole.

As a leader in America's dairy industry, I urge to you ensure DBI funding is included in the upcoming Farm Bill.
